桃子视频 condemns attacks in Port Sudan

Toronto, ON, May 7, 2025 – Attacks overnight in Port Sudan in eastern Sudan are reported to have caused widespread damage, including to Port Sudan Airport, fuel warehouses and a hotel which was housing diplomats and international aid workers.

The attacks represent a further escalation in violence in Sudan, which is now in its third year of conflict. The people of Sudan are experiencing one of the world鈥檚 worst humanitarian crises, with millions of people forced to leave their homes and without enough food or healthcare.

Speaking from Port Sudan, Mohamed Kamal, Country Director for 桃子视频 in Sudan said:

鈥淧ort Sudan is burning. We are witnessing one of the most dramatic escalations of violence since the devastating conflict in Sudan started over two years ago.

鈥淭he destruction is immense, and the attacks show no sign of stopping. Our office is a ten-minute walk from one of the fuel depots which was hit with a drone strike this morning.

鈥淓verywhere I look there are blazes burning and collapsed buildings. There is no safe place for people in Port Sudan right now.

鈥淲e are especially concerned about how these attacks will impact our ability to deliver life-saving humanitarian aid to children, girls and their families across Sudan, as well as the safety of our own staff who are headquartered in the city.

鈥淭he world cannot continue to ignore what is happening here. For the sake of millions of Sudanese children – we reiterate our calls for a sustainable peaceful resolution to this conflict and a dramatic upscale in humanitarian assistance entering all parts of the country.鈥
